Teach For Lebanon Signs MoU with the School of Citizenship Initiative

by Teach For Lebanon - Feb 26,2026

Teach For Lebanon is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the School of Citizenship, a flagship initiative launched under the office of Mrs. Nehmat Aoun, First Lady of the Republic of Lebanon. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to nurturing a generation of young leaders who are civically engaged, socially responsible, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The signing came on the occasion of a national dialogue that brought together key educational stakeholders to discuss the advancement of citizenship education across Lebanon. For Teach For Lebanon, being part of this conversation—and formalizing our role through this MoU—is a natural extension of the work we have long believed in: that education is the foundation of a more just and cohesive society.

Through this partnership, Teach For Lebanon will support the initiative by providing training to participating schools, drawing on our experience in teacher and leadership development to help educators bring citizenship values to life in their classrooms.

The School of Citizenship is built on an ambitious national vision. In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon, a total of 403 schools applied nationwide, with 150 selected across Lebanon's diverse geographic regions, spanning public and private schools and varied social backgrounds. At the heart of the program is a commitment to capacity building: 150 school principals and 450 teachers have been trained across 12 CRDP centers using a unified national curriculum that has been fully finalized and digitized.

Teach For Lebanon joins this effort as part of the Alliance for Citizenship Education, a national ecosystem of 5 strategic partners, 23 technical partners, and 10 sponsors, alongside the Federation of Private Schools and a broader community of volunteers. The initiative has already generated significant momentum, with over 5.47 million views across digital platforms and a growing community of engaged citizens.

We are proud to stand alongside the dedicated partners and institutions working to make this vision a reality, and we remain committed, as always, to supporting initiatives that advance equitable, quality education and empower Lebanon's next generation.
