The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) have partnered with Teach For Lebanon (TFL) to launch the "Resilience Through Education: Empowering Vulnerable Students in Lebanon with SEL and Inclusive Learning" project. This comprehensive initiative brings inclusive, trauma-informed, and emotionally supportive education to vulnerable children across Lebanon through innovative delivery mechanisms designed to address the urgent educational and psychosocial needs of students impacted by ongoing crises.
Lebanon's education system faces unprecedented challenges, with vulnerable students requiring additional support to access quality education and develop essential social-emotional learning skills.
Over 12 months, this initiative, led by Teach For Lebanon (TFL), will impact more than 23,425 students through three key interventions:
In-School Support: TFL Fellows, trained in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices, will deliver direct academic and emotional support within classrooms across Lebanon.
Call and Learn Hotline: This toll-free phone-based academic support program will provide over 59,500 recurrent support calls to students from KG to Grade 9, ensuring consistent guidance for learners.
Stationery Kit Distribution: Students will receive essential school supplies to help them stay engaged and equipped throughout the academic year.
In addition, 301 teachers, including TFL Fellows, Call and Learn hotline teachers, and non-TFL educators, will be trained using Education Above All Foundation’s "Let Kids Be Kids" SEL package. This resource includes more than 100 activities designed to strengthen students’ emotional resilience and daily life skills through grounding exercises, structured routines, and interactive learning games.
Together, these efforts aim to support vulnerable students academically and emotionally, while fostering a more inclusive and resilient learning environment across Lebanon.
“Teach For Lebanon exists to empower Fellows with the skills and mindset to transform classrooms and inspire students, even in the most underserved communities,” said Janine Weber-el Meouchy, Executive Director of Teach For Lebanon. “We are truly grateful for this partnership with the EAA Foundation and the Qatar Fund for Development, which enables us to go beyond academics—addressing students’ social and emotional well-being, especially in times of crisis. Together, we are shaping a generation of resilient, forward-thinking leaders who can build a brighter future for Lebanon.”
"At Education Above All Foundation, we remain committed to finding innovative ways to reach children where they are, ensuring that no learner is left behind," said Janhvi Kanoria, Executive Director of Innovation Development at Education Above All Foundation. “This partnership with Teach For Lebanon and the Qatar Fund for Development is helping us reach more than 23,000 vulnerable students across Lebanon with the academic and socio-emotional support they need to thrive. From in-school support to the Call and Learn hotline and the provision of essential learning materials, these interventions are creating new pathways for children to access inclusive, quality education.”
This partnership leverages Teach For Lebanon's deep understanding of the local educational landscape and proven track record in Education in Emergencies, having successfully responded to crises including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic collapse, Beirut blast, and ongoing conflicts. TFL's Fellows and Education in Emergencies (EiE) Fellows are specifically trained to provide quality education, emotional support, and leadership in challenging contexts.
